May is mental health awareness month and if you’re like most folks, this year might have that phrase hitting a bit different. Perhaps you have an ongoing relationship with your mental health or maybe you’re considering it anew. Wherever you are on your journey, we hope you take the time this month to “break” from whatever you need and learn something new.
These hour long Mental Breaks are designed to teach you new skills to add to your toolbox. The idea is this: art is a way to build our capacity for discomfort, growth, imagination, resourcefulness and add beauty around you. Why not prioritize your health by taking an art class that has the ability to add all of these things to your life? Courses are at no-cost to our community thanks to our sponsors.
Over the course of the month, we will be highlighting experts from the fields of art and mental health to share ways that we can recognize the powerful relationship of art and mental health. We hope to debunk some myths, share testimonies, and remind you that you possess your own rulebook for healing.
Hey! Hey! My name is Eva-mae, you can call me Eva. I am a marriage and family therapist, currently providing virtual therapy. I am committed to providing culturally informed mental health services because you matter! I believe therapy is a collaborative process that works for people to gain access to their own internal healing resources. In collaboration with clients, I focus on an eclectic modality that utilizes approaches such as brainspotting, cognitive behavioral therapy, person-centered, and strength-based to access healing and wellness from depression, anxiety, trauma/PTSD, racial trauma, life-transitions, education/work/life balance, and interpersonal relationship challenges.
