Consider this a crash course on textile waste discourse!
What if we had a community-scale solution for recycling discarded and unwanted textile waste? We’ve spent the year exploring this idea on a hyperlocal level. Like you, we feel frustrated by limited options for our discarded and unwanted material. In this series of workshops we will invite you into what we have learned so far. Thinking through the problem together, we will identify the skills and knowledge we have and need. This won’t be a lecture. It will be a space for interactive learning with our neighbors!
Week one: Recycling Lab
Week two: Waste or not to Waste?
Week three: Mend and Make Amends
What to expect: While all individual’s will be welcome to participate at the level of their choosing, a willingness to share with the group will support the overall cohort and exploration of the theme. Week 1 will include a lot of standing and handling textile from our waste stream. Learn more about the studio here.
We invite participants to attend all three workshops as they will build upon one another. You can join for individual sessions if that’s your capacity at this time. There is no cost to participate but registration is required.
Funding for this program is provided in partnership Longfellow Community Council. To help us reach the greatest number of people, we ask that you do your best to attend the programs you sign up for.
